Cost of Air Conditioning Inspection due to double or treble in 2010Many commercial buildings and an increasing number of homes have air conditioning systems. These systems should be carefully maintained and managed in order that they do not consume too much energy or become a health hazard to occupants through poor maintenance.
Communities and Local Government have introduced a requirement for regular inspections of air conditioning systems. By the end of December 2010 (January 4th 2011) all air conditioning systems over 12kW must have had their first inspection. A recent estimate of the number of units above 12kW in the UK is 500,000.
It is estimated presently there are only 250 qualified inspectors to carry out this work. Even if this number trebles, demand for inspections will outstrip supply and prices will obviously rise.
Naturally, with the present economic climate companies are reluctant to spend valuable cash flow on inspections that are not required until the end of next year. There is also a requirement to revalidate these inspections every five years and companies who leave it late in the first year will have to accept the very high prices for inspections every five years.
EPC Solutions Ltd provide inspection which are carried out by experienced accredited energy assessors who will also include an assessment of the efficiency and review of their sizing and advice on improvements or replacements and alternative solutions. These solutions if implemented can in many instances pay for the cost of the inspection in the first year.
EPC Solutions Ltd can also provide Service Level Agreements to companies with large property portfolios which will guarantee compliance with legislation.
Legislation aside, there are strong reasons for assessment. Bottom line. Cutting costs.
Our air conditioning experts can help you achieve your legal requirements, while identifying opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs. They can quickly show whether your systems are inefficient (and costly) or whether they are producing too much cooling (again costly) – with clearly laid out recommendations for improvement. All the more reason to act right away.
